The observations described were performed in the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem operating rooms, with the cooperation of the directors and staff of the gynecology and orthopedics operating rooms (Orna Ben Yosef and Margaret Lun), assisted by Yitzchak Karah, Director of Nursing Services of the Operating Rooms Division.

Haim Ratson was transferred from the Catheterization Room to the Recovery Room, where his wife was waiting for him. The next morning he was transferred to the Internal Medicine ward, where Dr. Lotem, gently and without any pain, removed the catheter that had been left overnight in his groin artery. A week later, Haim Ratson underwent a checkup in the cardiology clinic. His file recorded that he follows a lifestyle appropriate to his condition, that is, to do everything necessary to prevent infarction: frequent checking of blood pressure, consumption of permissible foodstuffs only, otherwise, the rest—as usual.

The hospital orderly takes the patient visa and a stretcher to the ward. In the ward the patient is moved from his bed to the gurney dressed with a surgery gown. His medical chart is also placed on the gurney. The patient (sometimes accompanied by family) is wheeled to the elevators into the OR. a. In the OR admission room, the patient’s gurney is now located among others waiting for their surgery. The nurse at this station follows the presurgery procedure: checks verification of fasting requirements, sensitivity to medications, allergies, and other health problems.
